Studio City coyote Wendy euthanized after vets find gunshot pellets and severe jaw infection

Residents of Studio City had watched a coyote named Wendy for over a year, noting a persistent facial swelling. Wildlife Care of Southern California tracked reports and captured her last week, providing antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and soft food during her care. Diagnostic scans uncovered two pellets embedded in her head, confirming a gunshot injury, and an infection that had eroded bone in the left side of her upper jaw.

Veterinarians concluded that surgery could not repair the damage, and the animal would require lifelong soft-food feeding. After weighing her prognosis and quality of life, the group elected to euthanize Wendy, keeping her comfortable in her final days. The organization plans to release examination photos to illustrate the severity of her injuries.
