Study raises concerns about safety of OpenAI's ChatGPT for Teens

An assessment by the Youth AI Safety Institute, part of Common Sense Media, examined more than 4,000 prompts entered by accounts registered to 13- to 17-year-olds, with responses reviewed by specialists including child psychiatrists and a pediatrician. The review highlighted shortcomings in the teen version of ChatGPT despite recent safety mechanisms. OpenAI responded that the testing likely occurred before parental controls were fully enabled and questioned the accuracy of the results. The organization said it is reviewing the findings as it continues to develop safeguards for younger users.
