Study shows AI adoption outpaces confidence among corporate decision-makers

A SAS-commissioned survey of 2,700 executives in 28 countries finds that while most firms use AI agents, only two-thirds trust them, lagging behind trust in generative AI overall.

The poll reveals that nearly 90% of respondents report AI agents influencing decisions within their companies, yet just 66% express confidence in those systems. By contrast, three-quarters say they trust generative AI more broadly. The gap appears tied to a lack of clear explanations for AI outputs, which respondents cite as the primary reason for overriding machine recommendations, more than twice as often as simple errors. The findings suggest rapid deployment is outstripping user understanding.
