Sudanese man under deportation order detained after violent robbery that killed victim near La Défense
A 25-year-old Sudanese national subject to an OQTF was placed in provisional detention after a violent robbery near the La Défense esplanade resulted in a victim's death.
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed that a 25-year-old Sudanese citizen, subject to an OQTF issued by the Paris police prefecture, was arrested and placed in provisional detention following a violent robbery near the François Coty footbridge that connects Puteaux to the La Défense esplanade. The suspect allegedly struck a 30-year-old victim, seized his mobile phone, and left him unconscious; the victim remained in a coma for fifteen days before dying from complications.
Police said the suspect was a regular presence on the Défense promenade. He has been formally charged and will remain in custody while the investigation proceeds. The incident underscores concerns about public safety in the high-traffic business district.
