Sudden cloudburst floods Disneyland, forcing ride closures and canceling fireworks

A brief but intense rainstorm drenched Disneyland on Friday night, flooding walkways and prompting the park to suspend outdoor attractions and cancel the fireworks show.

A rapid cloudburst over Anaheim produced roughly 25 mm of rain in just 15 minutes, flooding multiple sections of Disneyland and creating ankle-deep water on pedestrian routes. Visitors posted videos of standing water near Frontierland’s Pioneer Mercantile, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Haunted Mansion, and between Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The National Weather Service had only warned of regional rain, leaving many guests without rain gear.

Disneyland Cast Members responded by clearing clogged drains and using pumps, while the park temporarily shut down outdoor rides and cancelled the fireworks display because of lightning and strong winds. Water also accumulated at the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals tram terminals, complicating departures for families. Operations continued into the night to restore normal conditions for the weekend crowds.
