A suicide explosion struck a mosque inside Kohat's police lines during Friday prayers, killing at least 16 people and wounding more than 30.
During Friday prayers, a suicide bomb detonated inside a mosque located within the Kohat Police Lines in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least 16 worshippers and injuring over 30 others. The explosion caused part of the roof to collapse, leading rescue teams and nearby residents to search the rubble for survivors. Police and the provincial inspector general Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed the blast occurred inside the police complex and noted a subsequent gunfight with armed terrorists.
Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi described the rapid deployment of emergency services and the closure of nearby roads. Provincial leaders Sohail Afridi and Faisal Karim Kundi expressed condemnation of the attack and urged that victims receive the best possible medical care. No group has claimed responsibility, though suspicion falls on the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, which has a history of targeting security forces and civilians in the region.
