Summer speed checks lead to thousands of license revocations in Norway

In the three summer months, Utrykningspolitiet performed manual speed checks and printed simplified penalty notices for each offense. The campaign generated a substantial number of fines and resulted in over two thousand motorists having their driving licences withdrawn for excessive speed, an increase compared with the prior year. Knut Smedsrud, head of the agency, explained that higher speeds are typical during the summer season and that this period also sees the majority of severe road crashes. The police emphasised that the summer enforcement action aims to curb dangerous driving behaviour and improve overall road safety.
