Suno unveils Studio 2.0, adding MIDI, effects and AI chatbot

Suno has launched Studio 2.0, a major upgrade that brings MIDI support, built-in effects and an AI-driven chatbot to its music-creation platform.

Suno announced Studio 2.0, positioning the tool closer to a full-featured digital audio workstation rather than a simple AI editor. Core enhancements include MIDI capability, track automation for panning and volume, and a built-in two-oscillator wavetable synthesiser with basic envelope controls. Although external VSTs are still unavailable, the platform now offers a range of native effects—distortion, delay, reverb, compression, and EQ.

A novel chatbot interface lets users prompt the system for lyrics, new guitar lines, or to transform MIDI input into audio, while also handling tasks like note quantisation and vocal processing. Custom effect plugins can be created and stored in the user’s account for future sessions. The beta demonstration features Suno’s representative Henry Phipps relying on the AI to clean up mistakes and decide on a vocal chain, highlighting the system’s push toward automated music production.

Why it matters

The upgrade makes AI-assisted music creation more accessible by adding standard DAW features and interactive assistance.
