Supermassive Games announces up to 75 job cuts in latest restructuring
UK developer Supermassive Games said it will begin a redundancy process that could affect as many as 75 staff members.
Supermassive Games, the British video-game developer known for Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, issued a statement that it will start a redundancy consultation potentially resulting in the termination of up to 75 employees. The company said the step is required to maintain its sustainability and pledged support for affected workers. This action marks the third wave of layoffs the studio has undertaken in the past two and a half years, after eliminating around 90 staff in February 2024 and about 35 in July 2025.
At the close of 2025, Supermassive's workforce numbered 172. The announcement comes shortly after former chief executive Robert Henrysson left the firm following the release of Directive 8020. Although an Until Dawn sequel was revealed, development will be handled by Sony-owned Firesprite, with Supermassive not involved in the remake or the new sequel.
Why it matters
The cuts highlight ongoing financial pressure in the video-game sector and affect dozens of workers.
