Supreme Court collegium clears permanent appointments for 12 high court judges
The Supreme Court collegium has approved the conversion of 12 additional judges to permanent positions in the high courts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Gauhati.
The Supreme Court collegium, comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Vikram Nath and B V Nagarathna, met on September 23 and endorsed permanent appointments for twelve additional judges. Five judges—Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar, Challa Gunaranjan, Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao—were approved for the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Kerala will see five judges—P Krishna Kumar, KV Jayakumar, Muralee Krishna S, Jobin Sebastian and PV Balakrishnan—made permanent.
The collegium also cleared Subhash Upadhyay for Uttarakhand and Kaushik Goswami for Gauhati. These moves finalize the status of additional judges in the four high courts.
