Supreme Court Seeks Government Input on Challenge to Barangay Election Delay
Election attorney Romulo Macalintal filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to invalidate Republic Act No. 12326 and halt the recent postponement of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. The Court directed the President’s Office, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Commission on Elections to submit comments on the petition. Macalintal also requested a temporary restraining order or a status-quo ante order to stop the delay. The hearing took place during a full-court session on Wednesday.
