Survey reveals regional differences in Hungarian support for Fidesz's controversial policies
A Századvég study commissioned by Rogán Antal examined how Hungarians across counties view Fidesz's hard-line positions on EU integration, authority, immigration and LGBT rights.
Századvég released a county-by-county analysis for Rogán Antal’s office, probing how Hungarians perceive Fidesz’s firm positions on European integration, authoritarianism, immigration and sexual-minority rights. The survey indicated that residents of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg most strongly label themselves as "most Hungarian," while those in Győr-Moson-Sopron are the most likely to describe themselves as solely European. Authority-favoring scores were highest in Bács-Kiskun and lowest in the capital, Budapest.
The push for deeper EU integration received the greatest backing in Csongrád-Csanád (56.7%) and the least in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok (26.6%). Attitudes toward immigrants were most positive in Budapest (3.03 points) and most negative in Nógrád (2.35 points). Support for LGBT rights was strongest in Budapest (50.5%) and weakest in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok (54.2%).
