Suspect crashes police vehicle during drug bust, injuring corporal in Rantau Panjang
A man tied to a drug syndicate collided with a GOF vehicle while fleeing an anti-drug raid in Rantau Panjang, breaking a police corporal’s arm.
GOF’s Southeast Brigade acted on intelligence about a courier network distributing cannabis and oil across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak. At 1.30 pm a strike-force team inspected a premises in Rantau Panjang and uncovered six plastic packages containing about 70 g of cannabis buds, ten units of cannabis oil and three kilograms of compressed cannabis. A 35-year-old man believed to be linked to the syndicate sped away in a Toyota Camry, covering roughly two kilometres before his vehicle collided with the GOF four-wheel-drive attempting to stop him, fracturing the right arm of a 41-year-old corporal who was driving.
The other three officers escaped injury. The suspect’s car later stalled, allowing police to detain him and seize six bottles of a dark liquid suspected to be codeine, worth more than RM10,000. Authorities say the individual is connected to a distribution network operating in Rantau Panjang and Pasir Mas, and the investigation has been handed to the Pasir Mas police.
