Suspect in Halden hunting shooting to face full judicial observation, detained for four weeks

Martin Braadland, accused of killing two men and seriously wounding a third during a Sunday shooting at a hunting group in Halden, will be placed under full judicial observation and held for four weeks.

Martin Braadland, 29, is charged with the murders of Per-Ove Engebretsen, 47, and Bjørn Rune Engebretsen, 72, after he opened fire on a hunting group gathered outside a farm in Halden on Sunday morning. A third hunter was seriously injured, but Braadland denies any attempt to kill him. His lawyer informed NRK that the prosecution has signaled a decision to impose full judicial observation on the suspect.

The court ordered a four-week detention, during which Braadland will be subject to mail and visitor controls. The case highlights the legal response to a violent incident that occurred while the group was preparing for a moose hunt.
