SV demands revocation of Røkke’s krill fishing licence over alleged preferential treatment
SV politician Ingrid Fiskaa called on the government to strip Kjell Inge Røkke’s krill licence, saying it received special treatment.
Ingrid Fiskaa of SV urged the cabinet to cancel the krill fishing concession granted to Kjell Inge Røkke, alleging the arrangement enjoys undue advantages. The controversy stems from the transfer of Aker Qrill Company’s ownership to a foreign investment fund and Aker Capital, a move the fisheries directorate approved earlier this year. Government officials now acknowledge the approval was improper but have left the licence in place, while promising tighter future scrutiny.
Opposition figures from Høyre, Rødt, Frp, Sp, MDG and KrF have also condemned the decision, citing one outlet-ownership requirement. The fisheries minister Marianne Sivertsen Næss said the ministry will instruct the directorate to reject applications that shift most value to foreign owners. Aker Qrill’s chief Webjørn Barstad rejected claims of preferential treatment, noting the transaction complied with existing law.
