Sweden Sends Gripen Jets and Corvette to Support Finnish Territorial Defense
Sweden will provide Gripen fighter aircraft and a corvette to aid Finland's surveillance and defence until at least the end of 2026.
Finland's defence forces announced that Swedish Gripen jets and a corvette will operate in Finnish airspace and waters to bolster surveillance and protect the border. The arrangement, responding to a Finnish request, is set to run through the end of 2026. Officials said the Swedish assets will free Finnish resources for responding to violations. Both nations are recent NATO members and already cooperate closely on security matters.
Why it matters
