Swedish election outcome may hinge on Wednesday's overseas and early vote count
The tight race between the red-green bloc and the Tidö parties could be settled on Wednesday when the final tally of overseas and late-received early votes is added.
On Sunday night the vote count remained extremely close between the red-green coalition and the Tidö parties. The decisive figures are the overseas ballots and early votes that arrived after election day, which will be processed on Wednesday in the so-called “uppsamlingsräkning”. In the 2022 election, 224 000 such votes were counted, and officials expect a higher number this time as early voting grows. Valmyndigheten’s press officer Jenny Stad said the exact number will only be known once the count begins.
