Swedish fighter jets to join NATO air patrol on eastern front
Sweden will deploy Gripen combat aircraft to support NATO's air surveillance over the eastern flank.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said the deployment strengthens security for Sweden, Europe and NATO. Defence Minister Pål Jonson highlighted the tense security environment and repeated airspace violations as reasons for a high readiness posture. This marks the second occasion Swedish jets operate from Poland, following a similar mission in spring 2025.
