Swedish Golf Star Anna Nordqvist Announces Retirement After 20-Year Career

Anna Nordqvist, a three-time major winner from Sweden, confirmed she will retire from the professional circuit after this week’s FM Championship near Boston. The 39-year-old has been a fixture in the Solheim Cup for nine straight editions, captaining Europe in the upcoming event at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. Her major victories include the LPGA Championship in 2009, the Evian Championship in 2017, and the Women’s Open in 2021, and she has amassed nine LPGA Tour wins and five LET wins.

Nordqvist earned $14.1 million over an 18-year career and is currently ranked 118th worldwide, with recent top-10 finishes at the Evian and Women’s Open. Health concerns, including a benign stomach cyst removed this summer, and a desire to focus on family prompted her decision. She expressed gratitude for her journey and the support she received throughout her career.
