Swedish sailor Dan Lems describes fierce wildfires raging on Croatia's Brac island

A wildfire on Croatia's Brac island has been active for three days, according to one outlet media and authorities. Firefighters from the coastal cities of Dubrovnik and Sibenik have been involved in the suppression operation. Swedish sailor Dan Lems, who was sailing near the island, reported that the fire is powerful and constantly reignites, describing the scene as “not pleasant.”

He saw the blaze earlier in the day after departing from Split and observed that a squadron of water-bombing aircraft arrived at twilight but could not stay, leaving the hope that they will return at first light. The situation remains critical, with strong winds complicating the effort, and officials have not issued an evacuation order for the settlement of Milna. Lems expressed concern that the fire could flare again during the night.
