Swedish Speaker tasks Centre Party leader with exploring a centrist coalition

The Speaker assigned the Centre Party leader the job of gauging conditions for a centre-right government and said more details will follow after Monday's meeting.

On Monday, the Speaker gave the Centre Party leader a mandate to assess the feasibility of a centre-right coalition. The leader announced plans to meet with leaders of all parliamentary parties. Throughout the week she posted photos with Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson and Social Democrats leader Magdalena Andersson. Christian Democrat leader Ebba Busch described the contact as constructive but noted no new signals from the Centre Party on government formation.
