Swiss driver caught doing 312 km/h on French Alpine highway
A Swiss Porsche driver was recorded traveling 312 km/h on a French motorway with a 130 km/h limit and now faces court and penalties.
French police in the Alpine region stopped a Porsche driven by a Swiss national after speed-monitoring equipment recorded the vehicle at 312 km/h on a highway where the posted limit is 130 km/h. Officials said the car covered the distance at roughly 87 metres per second. Following the violation, the driver’s licence was confiscated, he was required to post a €1,500 bail and the car was impounded. He is scheduled to face a court hearing that could result in a three-month prison term and a €3,750 fine.
Police emphasized that such reckless behaviour endangers other traffic and that public roads are not race tracks. The incident is described as one of the highest speed violations ever recorded in France.
