Swiss Football Association withdraws support for Infantino's FIFA presidency bid

The Swiss Football Association (SFV) made its decision public during a board meeting, stating it cannot continue to justify its support for Gianni Infantino’s bid for another FIFA presidency term. In a statement, SFV president Peter Knabel said a recent assessment raised fundamental doubts about FIFA’s leadership, governance structures, transparency and decision‑making processes. The review cited incidents such as the Balogun case and the collapse of the FIFA Forward Enterprise initiative among the concerns.

The SFV had earlier, in June, endorsed another term for Infantino before changing its position. The move aligns Switzerland with other national federations that have expressed similar concerns.
