Swiss launches Starlink Wi-Fi on its first short-haul Airbus A320neo

Swiss has begun rolling out Starlink high-speed internet on its short-haul fleet, starting with the Airbus A320neo "Iseltwald" (registration HB-JDM) on flight LX1852 from Zurich to Thessaloniki. The service, branded as Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, will be free for all travelers who provide a Travel ID or a Miles & More service card. Swiss has set specific guidelines: passengers must use headphones for audio or video content, and voice/video calls and live streams are not allowed during the flight.

The airline will subsequently outfit three additional A320 family aircraft with the same technology, aiming to have the whole Swiss fleet equipped by the end of 2029. The rollout follows previous criticism that Swiss short-haul planes lacked onboard Wi-Fi, a feature previously available only on its long-haul jets and on some wet-lease partners such as Air Baltic.
