Swiss plans to restart Zurich-Dubai service amid regional airspace concerns
Swiss announced it will resume flights from Zurich to Dubai later this October, while still avoiding Saudi Arabian airspace.
Swiss confirmed that its Zurich-Dubai connection will be re-opened in the upcoming winter timetable, though the exact routing remains undecided. The carrier maintains its policy of not overflying Saudi Arabia, citing ongoing security assessments, while Edelweiss continues to use that corridor for other destinations. The suspension, originally triggered by escalated conflicts involving Iran and subsequent Houthi strikes on Saudi sites such as Riyadh airport, has kept the route idle for several months.
In response to shifting passenger flows, Swiss increased capacity to and from India during the hiatus. The airline’s media representative emphasized that demand for Dubai travel persists, even if travelers are presently more hesitant to book. Officials said the situation will be continuously monitored to ensure crew and passenger safety.
