Swiss public transport union calls for top priority on Morges-Perroy rail tunnel
The Union des transports publics (UTP) urges that the Morges-Perroy railway tunnel be built as an absolute priority within the Transports’45 plan.
In a position paper released in Bern, the UTP stresses that the Morges-Perroy tunnel should lead the national rail agenda. The document, part of the Transports’45 project championed by Albert Rösti, identifies the tunnel and the Heitersberg bottleneck removal as the two central Swiss-wide initiatives. UTP argues that the Lausanne-Geneva corridor urgently needs extra capacity and reaffirms its long-standing support for the tunnel since its parliamentary approval in 2023.
