Swiss-Ski vice president Claude-Alain Schmidhalter, who also chairs the organising committee for the 2027 ski world championships in Crans-Montana, has been formally charged with fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. According to the Valais public prosecutor, Schmidhalter and an associate allegedly cheated a former business partner, prompting criminal proceedings. The indictment calls for a conditional custodial sentence of 23 months.
A court date has been set for later this year, but Schmidhalter has so far remained silent on the matter. It remains unclear how the case might affect his roles within Swiss-Ski and the championship organising committee.
