Swiss SVP pharmacist pushes QR-code rule to stop repeat e-prescription abuse
Geneva pharmacist and SVP National Council member Thomas Bläsi warned that digital prescriptions let users buy strong sedatives at multiple pharmacies and tabled a motion to require QR-code checks to block repeat fills.
Bläsi said the e-prescription system permits a single digital script to be presented at several pharmacies, enabling the accumulation of calming drugs. He referenced studies linking prescription medication to sexual coercion. His motion would make QR codes mandatory on e-prescriptions, so pharmacies must scan them before dispensing, preventing duplicate sales. He is seeking support from the Greens to advance the proposal.
