Switzerland adds a second flu-vaccination week in November to offset supply delays

Switzerland is facing a delay in its seasonal flu-vaccine supply, as the Federal Office of Public Health reported that just over half of the planned doses will be delivered on time, with the balance expected by the third week of November. The first batch will be available as usual at the end of September or early October. Because of the shortfall, the country will conduct its national vaccination week twice: the regular week in early November and a supplemental week in the latter part of the month.

The agency advises clinicians to give priority to people in risk groups wherever possible. A vaccination administered in late November still provides timely protection ahead of the flu season, which is typically expected to peak in late December or January.
