Sydney woman admits manslaughter in husband’s disappearance after alleged body disposal

Nirmeen Noufl, 55, of Sydney, has entered a guilty plea to manslaughter concerning the disappearance of her husband, Mamdouh Noufl, who was reported missing in July 2023 after not being seen since May of that year. Authorities had charged her in October 2024, describing the investigation as "macabre" and "bizarre" after alleging she butchered and dismembered the 62-year-old's body, placed the fragments in plastic bags and disposed of them in south-west Sydney rubbish bins, followed by an extensive clean-up of their Greenacre residence.

The original murder trial scheduled for this week was halted when the court accepted her alternative plea. Justice Peter Hamill recorded the plea, and a sentencing hearing is planned for mid-September. Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty continues to assert that the victim’s remains have not been located.
