Syrian regime seized newborn son of Red Crescent driver, placing child in SOS village
Abdelrahman Ghbeis says the Assad regime imprisoned his wife after a Caesarean delivery and took their four-day-old son, who was later placed in an SOS-Kinderdörfer children’s village.
Ghbeis, who ran a Red Crescent ambulance treating soldiers, rebels and civilians, was labeled a terrorist by the Syrian government. In August 2015 security forces jailed his wife shortly after she gave birth and removed their infant son Mohammed from the hospital incubator. The child was transferred to an SOS-Kinderdörfer home, part of a wider pattern of abducting children of regime opponents, but promised investigations have not advanced.
