T-MAXIMUM's MT027 CAR-T therapy cleared by FDA for second Phase 2 trial

The FDA has approved a second Phase 2 study of MT027, T-MAXIMUM's B7-H3-targeted allogeneic CAR-T treatment, expanding its dual-indication program for intracranial tumors.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted clearance for a second Phase 2 clinical trial of MT027, T-MAXIMUM's B7-H3-directed allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy, this time targeting brain metastases from lung and breast cancers. This follows a prior FDA-cleared Phase 2 study of the same product in recurrent glioblastoma, giving the company a dual-indication portfolio for primary and metastatic intracranial solid tumors. MT027 benefits from Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations and is produced via a fully non-viral gene-editing platform, which the firm says improves safety and batch consistency.

Early exploratory data showed high response rates and no severe adverse events in small patient cohorts. T-MAXIMUM emphasizes that these milestones reflect integrated progress across product development, manufacturing, and regulatory strategy, aiming to expand treatment options for patients with limited intracranial therapy choices.

Why it matters

The clearance advances a novel cell therapy that could fill a major treatment gap for brain tumors and metastases.
