Taal Volcano's sulfur dioxide output falls sharply after days of high emissions
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that Taal Volcano emitted 223 metric tons of sulfur dioxide in the last 24 hours, a steep decline from earlier peaks.
Phivolcs measured a sulfur dioxide release of 223 metric tons from Taal's main crater over the past day, with the plume reaching about 750 meters before moving southwest. This figure is far lower than the daily 2,406 metric tons recorded between Oct. 9-14 and the 3,071 metric tons on Oct. 8. The drop follows several days of elevated gas emissions from the volcano.
