Taiwan legislature backs over $7 billion drone spending plan
Taiwan's parliament approved a multi-year budget exceeding $7 billion to expand the island's drone capabilities.
The legislative body authorized a six-year funding package of more than $7 billion for unmanned aerial systems. Officials say the investment supports a “porcupine strategy” that relies on cheap, agile defenses against a larger adversary. While most Taiwanese drones have been produced for export, the new money could stimulate domestic production and secure supply chains. The vice president cited Ukraine’s experience in building its own drone fleet as an inspiration.
