Taiwan prosecutors charge nine, including Nvidia staff, for illegal AI server exports to China
Taiwanese authorities have indicted nine individuals, among them a Nvidia employee, for smuggling high-end AI servers with Nvidia chips to China in breach of U.S. export rules.
Nine individuals have been charged in Taiwan for illegally exporting AI servers equipped with advanced Nvidia chips to China, violating U.S. export controls. The Keelung District Prosecutors Office alleges that eight defendants forged paperwork and abused trust to ship 74 high-end servers, routing 50 through Indonesia, eight via Japan, and the remainder directly to China, while an additional 56 units were seized at the border.
Three of the accused are also charged with embezzlement. The group comprises two Super Micro Computer staff, one Nvidia employee, an Albatron Technology worker and a Chief Telecom employee. Prosecutors request sentences of up to five years for seven defendants, citing profit-driven collusion, and propose reduced penalties for two who confessed and aided the investigation. Neither Nvidia nor Super Micro responded to comment requests.
