Taiwan's culture minister launches first UK visit on European cultural tour

Taiwan's Minister of Culture Li Yuan began a European trip with a historic stop in the United Kingdom, the first ever by a Taiwanese culture minister.

Li Yuan started his European itinerary in London, marking the inaugural visit of a Taiwanese culture minister to Britain. During the stay he inspected the Barbican Centre and the Young V&A museum, seeking ideas for Taiwan's own technology-driven arts venues and a new National Children’s Future Museum. He emphasized plans to weave ecological concepts into future cultural sites and to spread museums more evenly across urban areas.

After five days in the UK, Li will travel to France to attend the judging and presentation of the 30th Taiwan-France Cultural Award. The tour concludes on September 15, with Li returning to Taiwan the following day.
