Taiwanese man arrested after Thai girlfriend's body found in workplace freezer

The Taipei City Police Department announced that a 43-year-old Taiwanese man surnamed Wu was arrested in Taichung on suspicion of murdering his 36-year-old Thai girlfriend. Investigators found the woman’s body in a freezer at Wu’s administrative workplace after a search prompted by missing-person reports filed on September 8. Surveillance footage from a hotel in Taipei’s Ximending district captured Wu entering the hotel on September 12 and leaving the next morning with a large suitcase, which he later placed in his car before traveling to Taichung.

Wu told investigators he became angry when the woman asked to break up and said the death was accidental, though a preliminary investigation indicated she was strangled. The suspect has been referred to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.
