Tamil Nadu leaders demand inquiry after Karnataka forest officials kill three farmers

Tamil Nadu political figures reacted strongly to the death of three Tamil farmers shot by Karnataka forest officials in Chamarajanagar district, calling the act a murder. Former chief minister M K Stalin described the incident as shocking, pressed for a judicial probe, compensation and government jobs for the families, and criticized the Karnataka government for its silence on other issues. Chief minister C Joseph Vijay issued a statement condemning the attack and asked for a high-level investigation.

The Karnataka forest department defended its actions, saying the men were poaching and opened fire in self-defence. Opposition leaders, including PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, CPM state secretary P Shanmugam and CPI state secretary M Veerapandian, disputed the poaching narrative and demanded a CBI investigation and substantial compensation for the victims' relatives.
