Tamil Nadu minister's privately-registered car hits motorbike, killing rider near Chennai
A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after a private car registered to Social Welfare Minister Jagadeeswari struck his two-wheeler on the Trichy-Chennai highway near Kattankulathur.
On Monday night, a 28-year-old man named Iraiyanbu was killed on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway near Kattankulathur when a Maruti Ertiga registered in the name of Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Minister Jagadeeswari collided with his Honda Dio. The rider had been heading home after attending a temple festival and was crossing the road at the Kattankulathur junction. The privately-owned car, traveling behind the minister’s convoy, struck the two-wheeler, causing the victim to be thrown from his vehicle and die at the scene.
Police from the Guduvanchery Traffic Investigation Wing confiscated the car and detained its driver, 28-year-old Chinna Agni of Madurai, filing a case for rash and negligent driving resulting in death. Authorities arranged for the body to be moved to Chengalpattu District Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
