Tampa International tops JD Power ranking for large North American airports

JD Power’s 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study placed Tampa International Airport at the highest rank among large airports.

In JD Power’s 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, Tampa International Airport was ranked first among large airports, outpacing Portland International and Dallas Love Field. The research gathered more than 24,000 completed surveys from U.S. and Canadian residents who had traveled through at least one airport within the past 30 days, covering both departure and arrival experiences. Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality and retail at JD Power, praised Tampa International for its consistently passenger-focused operations, low stress levels, extensive food and beverage choices, and attractions like the mascot Phoebe the Flamingo.

The airport also benefits from easy ground access. Looking ahead, Tampa International plans to add a new international terminal and a revamped ticketing lobby. The study also listed other Florida airports, with Miami International at seventh among mega-airports and Southwest Florida International ninth among large airports.

Why it matters

The ranking highlights Tampa International’s strong passenger satisfaction, influencing traveler choices and airport investment priorities.
