Tan Chong to Provide Coating and Assembly Services for Perodua’s Serendah EV Plant
Tan Chong Motor Holdings signed a three-year deal with Perodua Sales to supply coating, painting and assembly-line services for Perodua’s battery-electric vehicle project in Serendah.
Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd has entered a three-year contract with Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd to deliver coating, painting and assembly-line support for Perodua’s battery-electric vehicle initiative in Serendah, Malaysia. Under the deal, Tan Chong’s unit TCMA will operate electro-deposition coating and painting lines and lease a designated assembly line, while Perodua will cover the associated service and rental charges. The partnership, which began on 1 June, includes a clause allowing Perodua to prolong the agreement for an additional two years, provided notice is given at least six months before the initial term ends.
Perodua is responsible for obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals and maintaining insurance for its equipment. Tan Chong indicated the arrangement will not affect its issued share capital and anticipates it will boost revenue and earnings from the fiscal year ending 31 December 2026. The deal follows a letter of intent announced in November of the previous year.
Why it matters
The partnership adds a new revenue stream for Tan Chong and supports Malaysia’s push to expand domestic electric-vehicle production.
