Tan Khai Xin finishes ninth in 400m IM, missing Malaysia's record at Asian Games

In the men's 400m individual medley final at the Asian Games, Malaysia's Tan Khai Xin finished ninth with a time of 4:23.99, falling short of his national record of 4:23.24 from the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games. Japan's Yumeki Kojima claimed gold in 4:07.02, breaking the previous Games record, while Tomoyuki Matsushita earned silver and China's Wang Shun took bronze. Tan advanced to the final after posting 4:24.38 in the morning heats, ranking tenth overall.

He also contributed to Malaysia's 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams that reached finals in the 2022 Hangzhou Games. Other Malaysian swimmers, including Goh Li Jie and the 4x100m medley quartet, missed podium spots, with the relay team finishing sixth in its heat and not advancing.
