Target's chief stores officer tours Midwest stores to boost back-to-school performance
Chief stores officer Adrienne Costanzo toured several Target locations in Wisconsin and surrounding states to assess inventory, staffing and shopper experience ahead of the back-to-school rush.
During a multi-state tour that included Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska, Target's chief stores officer Adrienne Costanzo evaluated the retailer's readiness for the back-to-school season. The visits coincided with high shopper volume as parents and college students prepared for classes, and Costanzo highlighted increased in-stock rates and popular partnerships with brands like LoveShackFancy and Hollister. She also discussed operational tweaks, including a trailer-loading method designed to speed shelf stocking.
While overall inventory appeared tighter than in prior inspections, a Pokémon section sold out after a long line, prompting plans to prevent empty shelf space. Costanzo mentioned that occasional lapses in staff interaction at checkout lanes remain an area for improvement. The tour forms part of CEO Michael Fiddelke's broader turnaround strategy following recent controversies and a challenging holiday period.
