Tarzana Treatment Center CEO earns $2.36 million amid whistleblower billing concerns
Tarzana Treatment Centers' president and CEO Albert Senova receives $2.36 million annually, while former staff allege intense pressure to maximize billable hours.
Public tax filings reveal Albert Senova, president and CEO of Tarzana Treatment Centers, was paid $2.36 million in the most recent year, up 28% from the previous year. The nonprofit, which provides detox, residential care and mental-health services with funding from Los Angeles and state sources, has seen its revenue rise sharply since 2019. Two former staff members say they were forced to meet daily billing quotas of 390 to 420 minutes, often enrolling patients who were still vomiting, hallucinating or otherwise unable to complete a 30-day detox.
Audits by the County Controller highlighted payroll misallocations and missing criminal-background clearances for several employees, findings the nonprofit has contested. Despite being placed on a warning database, the center continues to receive multi-million dollar contracts from city and county agencies. Critics, including former sheriff Alex Villanueva, question the disparity between executive compensation and the nonprofit’s mission.
