Tata Steel transfers full ownership of Jamshedpur FC to Churchill Brothers

Tata Steel's Committee of Directors authorized the sale of its complete holding in Jamshedpur Football and Sporting Private Limited, the entity that operates Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC, to Churchill Brothers Sports Club Private Limited for a nominal consideration of Rs 100. The transaction covers all 4.08 crore equity shares and is governed by a Share Purchase Agreement, subject to customary conditions and approval from the All India Football Federation.

Completion is expected by August 31, after which the ISL sporting licence will be transferred to the Goa-based club. Starting September 2026, Churchill Brothers will assume the contracts of Jamshedpur FC’s 12 players and two coaches, ensuring their continued participation in the league. Tata Steel will retain its focus on youth and grassroots football, particularly talent development among local and tribal communities, through its long-standing TATA Football Academy. The move ends Tata Steel’s direct ownership of the ISL franchise while preserving its broader football commitments.
