Tattooed suspect sought after unprovoked morning stabbing at Toronto's Yonge-Bloor intersection

Police in Toronto issued a photo of a man covered in facial tattoos after he allegedly ambushed a passer-by at the busy Yonge and Bloor corner early Friday morning. The victim, walking alone on the sidewalk, was approached from behind and stabbed, sustaining serious injuries but expected to survive. Security footage shows the suspect wearing a backwards baseball cap and later a “We The North” ballcap, with a large cross tattooed on his forehead.

Investigators have named the suspect as 36-year-old Anthony Christopher David McLaughlin and have filed charges of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. He remains at large. The stabbing adds to public safety worries as the city heads toward its municipal election on Oct. 26, following a police officer being shot nearby the previous day.
