Taylor Sheridan’s $330 million ranch purchase reshapes his career plans

Writer-director Taylor Sheridan bought the Four Sixes Ranch for $330 million, a deal that halted his retirement and led to an exclusive pact with Paramount.

During a recent podcast appearance, Taylor Sheridan explained that a $330 million acquisition of the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas derailed his plan to retire after "Yellowstone." He had already owned a ranch in Weatherford and was ready to focus on a small herd, but the new purchase required him to remain professionally engaged. Sheridan arranged for a reliable general manager and confirmed his son would eventually run the property.

The ranch, previously owned by Anne Marion, was offered to him after her estate decided to sell rather than pass it to her daughter. Closing the deal in January 2022, Sheridan then approached Paramount, which had long sought an exclusive contract, and signed a comprehensive agreement. Since then he has created series such as "Mayor of Kingstown," "1883," "1923," "Lioness," "Landman," "Tulsa King" and "The Madison," with "Lioness" now in its third season.

Why it matters

The purchase ties a major TV creator to a new long-term studio deal, influencing future entertainment projects.
