TD Michael Healy-Rae hospitalized after assault in Dublin city centre

Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital after being assaulted when his car was stopped in Dublin city centre.

Michael Healy-Rae, an Independent TD from Kerry, was assaulted after his vehicle was halted in traffic in Dublin city centre. Gardaí responded, called an ambulance to Kevin Street Garda station and brought him to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment. His brother, Danny Healy-Rae, expressed concern but said he expected the injuries to be minor and noted the proximity of the hospital was helpful.

The TD had visited Leinster House earlier that Wednesday before heading home. He later commented that the security environment for TDs has changed, with barriers now present at the parliament building. Further details are pending.
