Teachers' Union Calls for Ministry to Form Committee on Workload Review
The National Union of the Teaching Profession urged the Education Ministry to set up a dedicated committee to examine teachers' workload, especially in rural schools.
At a memorandum signing with Batik Air in Kota Baru, NUTP leader Aminuddin Awang pressed the Education Ministry to create a special committee tasked with a thorough review of teachers' workload. The committee would carry out field surveys to capture the real challenges educators encounter, particularly in rural and remote areas where digital infrastructure lags behind urban schools. Awang argued that measures taken over the past two to three years have not sufficiently reduced the burden on teachers.
He also highlighted confusion over the Student Protection Policy compliance declaration, urging the ministry to publish an official statement confirming that signing the document is optional. The union seeks an amendment to Education Service Circular No. 4 of 2026 to codify this clarification.
