Team CATALYST advances to Sprint 3 in NATO’s Next-Gen Modelling and Simulation Programme

Team CATALYST, a multinational group coordinated by Light Professional IT Services LLC (operating as By Light), has entered Sprint 3 of NATO Allied Command Transformation’s agile procurement for the Next Generation Modelling and Simulation (NexGen M&S) programme. The team brings together six companies—By Light, ETE Technology, Thales, Leonardo, Horizon Strategies and Liberty Business Associates—each contributing expertise in distributed synthetic environments, cyber security, AI and simulation distribution.

In this phase the consortium will showcase a secure, data-centric synthetic environment that can support training, wargaming, operational planning and analysis across all warfighting domains. Bob Donahue, CEO of By Light, emphasized that the goal is to treat simulation as operational infrastructure that improves interoperability and reveals capability gaps early. NexGen M&S is intended to be a persistent, common environment that underpins NATO’s digital transformation and multi-domain operations strategy. Successful completion of Sprint 3 will move Team CATALYST further along the competitive evaluation, positioning it to deliver the alliance’s next-generation decision-making tools.
